Technically, a smile is a characterized by the whole face showing pleasure, and the corners of the mouth turning slightly up. The teeth are not exposed in a smile. If one is showing one’s teeth that is a grin. That said, colloquial usage is to use the word ‘smile’ to mean both a smile and a grin.

You are right that the faked smile or grin, where the person just attempts to shape their mouth, looks artificial. The whole face has to be engaged in a smile, not just one’s mouth.

Telling someone to smile at the moment of exposure appears to me the least likely way of getting a good, natural looking smile. I take quite a lot of photos of my children and grandchildren, and find the best images are when they are doing something else, rather than posing for me specifically. Capturing those natural moments takes patience, but is worth it.

See alot of people smile like this and they look so fake with a weak worm of the dust mentality. It appears that people who just show show their top teeth don’t have the stength or will power to show the bottom ones too. Look at all the magazines covers – it’s like someone passed a book around called “Fake Top Teeth Smile = Mundane Boring People!” People must have read that book – because everywhere you go people are doing the same thing.

Hi, I would like to get my teeth whitened in London but a lot of these places seem like make – shift surgeries etc. I have asked my dentist and she said was that “your teeth are pretty white, you don’t want a fake american hollywood smile” . . . errr hello, my money my choice. So because of that, I would rather not go to my dentist because I am not sure she will give me the result I want. I just want to see a huge difference. I currently use “plus white” from the US and another toothpaste with hydrogen peroxide – my teeth are noticeably clearer after the toothpaste but need more white.
I have heard of ZOOM whitening, has anyone done this in the UK, if so where and what were the results?
If you have used something else – please advise.

Trust me I know the grammer is a little messed up tell me where and I’ll fix it.
Here it is:
It’s called How He Changed My Life:
Chapter 1-How I met and made a complete, udder fool out of myself in front of him
I was on my summer vacation with my mom, Lilli and my step-dad, Jesse. I was running down the beach at the Mérida Ocean resort in Mexico. Boy is that a great place, a lot better than when we went to Australia and ‘hung out’ with the wild life… and the bugs.
Anyway, so I was jogging along my shoulder length blonde hair bouncing with my steps. My new shoes rubbed my feet raw. I ran along the water line swerving out when the water came too close. I stopped for a breath and saw a boy pass me.
From what I could see of him, he was cute, not just cute, but hot. I continued running, knowing it wouldn’t matter if I stopped him no one ever wants to go out with me. Sweat glistened on my forehead as the sun came fully out of the clouds. I raised my face up to the sky and took a deep breath.
I tripped. My foot stuck in a long wooden trunk that lay across the beach. My face smashed into the sand and clung to my teeth and lips. Ow. The pain, I thought. I pulled on my foot. I couldn’t get it out. Sand stuck to my face and neck. I turned my face to breath and shoved my body away from the sticky sand with my arms.
“You okay?” A voice came from behind me.
“Not really.” I answered.
“Let me help.” The voice said. I felt a tugging at my foot. I blushed. God. I felt the tight pressure on my foot release. I felt hands wrap around my arms, then helped me up.
“Thanks.” I said, brushing the sand off my yellow tank-top and grey shorts. I started to pick the sand out of my eyebrows and off my lips, but then I saw who it was. It was the boy. “Hi My names Ellie, Ellie Ashton.”
“I’m Cole Meyer.” He shook my hand. “So are you going to be all right?”
“Yeah, I think so. Oh, and thanks, again. Very helpful.”
“So, why are you here? I’m here on vacation with my mom and dad.”
“Me, too.”
“So, how long are you staying?” We walked down the beach casually talking.
“All summer, and you?”
“Same. We went to London last year.” The clock tower in the center of the Resort chimed for noon.

“You, too.” I waved goodbye and walked to the main building. I went through the door and the air conditioning gave me goose bumps. I went up to my room to take a shower.
After I got out of the shower, I blow-dried my hair and took a nap. Napping is not usually my thing, but I’m going to a bash in the square, for teens.
Before the party I got ready, applying mascara, lip-gloss, and eye shadow lightly, not trying to overdo it. I pulled on my brand new brown summer dress with black flats.
“What’s the occasion?” Lilli asked.
“Bash in the square. I need a necklace or a… bracelet. No, earrings. What do I do?” I begged.
“Here,” she unclipped her long silver necklaces and handed them to me. I put them on and looked in the full body mirror. I touched my neck and then spun around on my tippy-toes.
“Thanks mom.”
“You’re welcome Ellie.” She said.
So, in preparation I re-applied my lip-gloss and mascara. I smiled brightly in the mirror; my teeth were straight and white, straight from non-needed braces, white from strips and lasers. My mom had my teeth whitened a few times when I was fourteen and fifteen. I had modeled for teen clothes. My mom got obsessive and I quit.
My blonde hair hung in layers, flitting against my shoulder. The hazelnut highlights brought out my green-blue eyes. My tan was fading. Yes, I spent a lot of time in the sun, but that doesn’t mean it stays.
I left for the party. In the elevator I met up with my friend Brazil and Sheri. They complimented me, as I did them.
Sheri wore white pants and a dark navy long-sleeve shirt with a black oxford vest and black cowboy boots. Brazil wore a brown skirt with black tights, a dark brown lace tank-top and black flats that covered her toes. Her brown hair had blonde highlights and was twisted up in to a thick braided bun. Sheri’s sandy red hair was hanging down.
We arrived at the party. The bright lights flashing, the DJ’s music screaming loudly, the people dancing and chatting happily, and the food was prepared on a long white table.
Then I saw him. Cole. He stood in the middle of the dance floor looking lost. He smiled when he saw me, and then waved me over.
“Give me a second, okay?” I said to Brazil and Sheri. Then walked over to him.

Should I be a model at 13?

Hi, I am a thirteen year old girl and need some advice on modelling. If I could model it would make my dream come true. So please help me. I have never really tried anything to get myself noticed. But I live in Scotland so I guess it’s pretty hard to get anywhere in modelling here. I don’t have a clue on where to start so please help. I know modelling isn’t just about your looks it is a lot more than that. I have researched a lot about it and I know some makeup artists etc. if that helps?
About me~
Height– 5’3 Weight- 120 pounds with a toned stomach. I have a line down the middle, but no muscles.
Hair- I have a unusual hair colour that puzzles everyone because you couldn’t name it. But everyone says it is a beautiful colour. Light brown/dirty blonde, but the It is shoulder length and shiny. I have short layers which gives it volume and a side fringe going to my right.
Skin- I don’t have pale skin and I don’t have the most tanned either. But I normally have a tan, because I go my holiday about 3 times a year and it lasts. My problem is I have acne which I have been prescribed Zeneryt for, but I have been using it for a year and my acne just faded then has started to come back. They said this might happen to me but I have got another appointment. I only have acne on my forehead which my fringe hides most of. And on my nose I have a lot of blackheads which I struggle to get rid of. And you see those models with perfectly clear skin I know those pictures are probably edited but they don’t want to send out a model with bad skin. I also have quite high cheekbones.
Eyes- dark green/ brown sometimes look dark blue/grey.
Chest- I am not flat-chested but I am not big either. I am a 32B which I think is just right for me I think if I had any bigger it wouldn’t look right on me.
Makeup- I have always been told I don’t need a lot and I am lucky for that. I hate the “caked on” look so I tend to keep it looking natural. People have said I’m naturally pretty, but I don’t agree with them. I like the fact that I don’t need to have a mask to hide my looks but I don’t think I am the prettiest.
I wear foundation “Rimmel London, match perfection in Soft beige(200).
I wear eyeliner on the bottom eyelid in the red part.
Mac Blusher- used lightly on cheekbones in pink colour
Mascara- Maybelline’s Falsies and a No 7 on bottoms.
It gives me a very natural look, which people compliment me on.
Teeth- I had braces for 2 years. Just got them taken out at New Year. No stains and my teeth are very white and straight. I asked the dentist if I should get them whitened, because I am a big fan of the best white smile. They said my teeth are the whitest they could be personally. So it wouldn’t be noticeable or worth it if I did get them whitened..
Lips- Are normally a pink colour without any lipstick/balm/gloss.
Me- I think I would be a good person to work with, I am not big headed or anything like that and I think I could take criticism well, because that would be advice on how to get further into modelling. I am a very co-operative person and I think I would be easy to work with. In school I do well, I have good test results and I am in all the top classes. Thanks for reading sorry if its long xx

I’m a fifteen year old girl, and always up for trying out new beauty products (shocker). I watched some videos and read about the Go SMiLE whitening system, with very mixed reviews. One review that really stood out to me was that the touch-up vials are more “potent” than the normal 7-day ones, and this one woman said she only used one touch-up on her teenage daughter and her teeth looked fantastic! My teeth are already pretty white, I’m only looking to brighten up my smile. This kit is pretty pricey, so should I bother purchasing the entire whitening kit, or just get the set of touch-ups?
The review about the lady using the touch-up is another online review, so ya know, a little iffy. The entire set is a much more expensive than the touch-ups (touch-ups are $28, the kit is $99), but I’ll get whatever gets the job done. If the touch-ups are going to do the trick, then I won’t bother with the kit.
